Heya Hoyas!

The Hoya Social Impact Alliance (HSIA) aims to connect, celebrate, and foster collaboration among Hoyas of all years and programs who are involved in the social impact sector.

Every few weeks, we send out this newsletter to highlight the important work that these Hoyas are doing in their communities and on campus, and share events, resources and other opportunities that may be of interest.

THE YEAR AHEAD

Building on our successful inaugural DC meetup in November, 2025 looks to be a breakthrough year for the Alliance. Firstly, we welcomed many new alumni volunteers to our leadership team (see below). Secondly, with this new team in place, we are in the midst of planning a number of in person networking activities in DC and other cities, as well as virtual professional development events. Lastly, we are transforming our communications to meet the needs of alumni and students who are working or want to work in the social impact sector.

NEW TEAM MEMBERS

Meet some of the Hoyas who recently joined the HSIA leadership team

Alexandra Rivera (COL 2019), Membership lead

Alexandra Rivera is the Program Manager at the George Washington University Institute for International Economic Policy. She brings expertise in program management, communications, and marketing, honed through her work at Compass Pro Bono, where she managed volunteer programs, led communications strategies, and oversaw key projects like a comprehensive website redesign. Alexandra also has a background in event coordination, stakeholder engagement, and leveraging data to improve program outcomes. She holds a degree in Economics and Government from Georgetown University.

Alyse-Noël Hicks (SCS 2022), Social Media Lead

Alyse-Noël Hicks is a Communications Specialist for the Institute for Defense Analyses, where she supports communications planning and execution of various organization-specific changes, initiatives and programs. She is also the Graphic Design Director for the Georgetown University Medical Center's Memory Disorders Program in the Department of Neurology, ensuring that branding aligns with the mission of increasing accessibility to clinical care and Alzheimer's disease research for underrepresented groups. Alyse-Noël is passionate about elevating the brands of organizations and individuals and has previously worked with various corporations, nonprofits and small businesses to enhance their communications, public relations and marketing efforts. She holds a Master's degree in Public Relations and Corporate Communications from Georgetown's School of Continuing Studies.

Lola Adeosun (MAET 2022), Programming Lead - DC area focus

Lola Adeosun serves as the Director of School-Based Programming for Mikva Challenge. She’s made social impact her career, and feels much more inspired when she’s in community with others who have done the same. She’s excited to help build programming and spaces for Hoyas to collaborate, learn, grow, and gather for social impact!

Sabrina Teichman (MA-IBP 2020), Programming Lead - US / International Focus

Sabrina Teichman is a mission-driven leader with over 15 years of experience in foreign policy and national security, specializing in the intersection of international development, trade, and investment. Passionate about advancing social impact, Sabrina has partnered with public, private, and non-profit organizations to drive policies, programs and investments that promote economic opportunity and foster sustainable growth. She holds a Master’s degree in International Business and Policy from Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service and McDonough School of Business, as well as a B.A. in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland.

For Career and Professional Development

February 6: Hoya Gateway Live on Campus

Alumni, join us on the Hilltop for a networking reception with current students to share your insights about the role that your course of study and time at Georgetown has played in shaping your professional journey. Register to join this event in the Copley Formal Lounge on Thursday, February 6 at 6-8 pm.

February 7: Online Career Fair and Net Impact Career Day

Georgetown University, along with 13 other undergraduate and graduate institutions, invite students and employers to take part in the annual Government, Education and Non-Profit Career Fair, scheduled for Friday, February 7, from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. This event will take place virtually on Handshake. 

Also on February 7, the MSB Net Impact Club is hosting its annual in-person Career Day at Hariri. This all-day event features several industry panels, breakout sessions, and a networking happy hour with practitioners in the social impact ecosystem. Tickets are free for Net Impact and Emerging Markets Network members and $25 for non-members, and includes breakfast, lunch, and a networking happy hour. Register on Hoya Connect here. Here’s how you can support the Hoya Social Impact Alliance

The Hoya Social Impact Alliance is in its incubation phase as an Alumni Alliance/Affinity group. Alumni Alliance/Affinity groups provide a way for Georgetown University alumni to organize around an industry, shared interest, identity or community. Groups seeking to create a new alliance/affinity group follow a phased multi-year approach to demonstrate interest and sustainability for the group. The first phase is an incubation phase where groups begin to recruit volunteers, engage alumni and begin developing an engagement plan to be an active recognized group. 

City Liaisons and Network Leads Wanted
To grow the Alliance, we need you! As a member of the team, you can develop leadership, event planning, project management, communications, and membership/organization-building skills; meet and network with a wide variety of Hoyas from all schools, programs, degrees, certificates, and initiatives; and be part of the creation of a professional alliance that will serve alumni, students, the social impact community, and the University for many years to come.
